new in france

hello we are a family with two children at the age of 12 and 9 and we want to home/unschool them.
do you probably have some advices for us in which city or department it is easy to do so or where some familys are already homeschooling or unschooling their children. We thought about Nantes???
i do speak french and i can read it aswell but i am still learning how to write it .....

The "instruction en famille" is allowed everywhere in France.
There are certainly some families in every departement doing that. The ease to do homeschooling or unschooling depends mostly on "inspecteurs d'académie" of the department. But, homeschooling is generally more accepted than real unschooling in France by Inspecteurs.
I think I know somebody who does homeschooling at Nantes on another forum. I'm going to try joining them   !

We live in Nantes and have homeschooled our two daughters several times. I would be happy to answer some of your questions about homeschooling in Nantes. It might be easier through private mail (but I don't mind on the list anyway). Our daughters (who are now 15 1/2 and 13) have been homeschooled in 2007-2008, for more than a year, and then our youngest, last year for 7 months.  For some reasons, we have never been inspected by the Inspection Academique. There is a very nice group of homeschooling families, who meet very often, for different activities and leisure.
